Description: This dataset provides information about the conditions of the nation’s surface waters located in the state of Florida. States, territories and authorized tribes (states for brevity) assess the quality of their surface waters and report it to EPA as part of their Integrated Report (IR), which combines Clean Water Act Sections 303(d) and 305(b). This dataset provides the spatial locations of state-defined Assessment Units and Assessment decisions for those waters. Designated Use and assessed Parameter information have been rolled up into groups. This dataset also includes attributes indicating the Assessment Units that have one or more Actions (a.k.a., Plans, such as Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL), Alternative Restoration Plans, Protection Plans, etc.) associated with the water. For more information, please see https://www.epa.gov/waterdata/attains. This dataset provides the latest information submitted to EPA for each state for the reporting cycle 2022 (Ed. January 2025). States typically provide this data to EPA every two years, but the currency of the data may vary by state. The Control table indicates the latest data available for each state. State water quality assessment decisions reported to EPA under the Integrated Report (IR), and Clean Water Act Sections 303(d) and 305(b). This service provides summary information for each Assessment Unit. For more detailed data, please reference the Assessment Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) Tracking and Implementation System (ATTAINS) web services. Information on those web services is provided on the public ATTAINS website: https://www.epa.gov/waterdata/attainsThe 303(d) Listed Impaired Waters area features in the State of Florida that are monitored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA). The 303(d) Listed Impaired Waters program system provides impaired water data and impaired water features reflecting river segments, lakes, and estuaries designated under Section 303(d) of the Clean Water Act. Each State will establish Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) for these waters. Note the CWA Section 303(d) list of impaired waters does not represent waters that are impaired but have an EPA-approved TMDL established, impaired waters for which other pollution control mechanisms are in place and expected to attain water quality standards, or waters impaired as a result of pollution and is not caused by a pollutant. Therefore, the "Impaired Waters" layers do not represent all impaired waters reported in a state's Integrated Report, but only the waters comprised of a state's approved 303(d) list. For more information regarding impaired waters refer to EPA's Integrated Reporting Guidance at: https://www.epa.gov/tmdl.Under Section 303(d) of the Clean Water Act (CWA), states, territories, and authorized tribes, collectively referred to in the Act and here as "states," are required to develop lists of impaired waters. A state’s 303(d) impaired waters list is comprised of all waters where required pollution controls are not sufficient to attain or maintain applicable water quality standards. The law requires that states establish priority rankings for waters on the lists and develop Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs). A TMDL is a calculation of the maximum amount of a pollutant that a waterbody can receive and still meet water quality standards, and an allocation of the load reduction needed from various sources of the pollutant. Please note that a water can be identified on a State’s 303(d) list as impaired for more than one cause of impairment and be identified as having more than one probable source. EPA considers TMDLs as water/pollutant combinations, please be mindful of this information when aggregating the attributes for analysis needs. The 305(b) Assessed Waters area features in the State of Florida that are monitored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA). The 305(b) program system provide assessed water data and assessed water features for river segments, lakes, and estuaries designated under Section 305(b) of the Clean Water Act.This dataset replaces the separate Pre-2015 geospatial datasets for CWA Section 303(d), 305(b), and TMDLs. Therefore this dataset is a replacement and not an update for the following May 2015 FGDL datasets: USEPA_OW_305B_*, USEPA_OW_303D_*, and USEPA_OW_TMDL_*
