Description: This dataset contained property that is protected under the Rural and Family Lands Protection Program (RFLPP) in the State of Florida. The Rural and Family Lands Protection Program is an agricultural land preservation program designed to protect important agricultural lands through the acquisition of permanent agricultural land conservation easements. Originally created in 2001 with the passage of the Rural and Family Lands Protection Act, the program has successfully acquired the development rights of seven active agricultural operations, accepted the donation of an active silvicultural operation and the Florida Forest Service is currently in the process of acquiring easements over additional agricultural operations. The program is designed to meet three needs: (1) Protect valuable agricultural lands. (2) Create easement documents that work together with agricultural production to ensure sustainable agricultural practices and reasonable protection of the environment without interfering with agricultural operations in such a way that could put the continued economic viability of these operations at risk. (3) Protect natural resources, not as the primary purpose, but in conjunction with the economically viable agricultural operations.

Description: This data set represents level 3 agricultural water management district land use that falls within areas that have been identified by the NRCS as prime farmland (or farmland of unique or local importance). During the process all areas less than .25 acres were removed. Five water management district land use layers were used in the creation of this layer. The farmland classification was taken from the spatial view based on NRCS_SOILS.
Description: This data set represents the prime farmland and farmland of unique and local importance based on the layer nrcs_soils. This layer is a spatial view and is created by the following sql query: FRMLNDCL = 'ALL AREAS ARE PRIME FARMLAND' OR FRMLNDCL = 'PRIME FARMLAND IF DRAINED AND EITHER PROTECTED FROM FLOODING OR NOT FREQUENTLY FLOODED DURING THE GROWING SEASON' OR FRMLNDCL = 'PRIME FARMLAND IF DRAINED' OR FRMLNDCL = 'FARMLAND OF LOCAL IMPORTANCE' OR FRMLNDCL = 'FARMLAND OF UNIQUE IMPORTANCE'

Description: This dataset contains generalized agricultural land use derived from parcel specific land use for the State of Florida. This layer is a subset of generalized land use. The subset was created by selecting all the agricultural land use from each FDOT district LU_GEN layers and merging it together.
Description: This is a subset of the layer LU_L3_STATE, created by using the definition query "FLUCCS >= 2000 and FLUCCS < 3000" to select out agricultural land uses. This dataset is an inventory of Land Uses and Land Covers classified in the State of Florida. The dataset has been derived from data created by the five Water Management Districts and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Bureau of Watershed Restoration. The land use and land cover classification level 3 code is defined by the Florida DOT's FLUCCS classification system. This dataset represents land use and land cover information derived from imagery. Land use and land cover information provides environmental scientists an understanding of the relationships between human activities, land surface physiography and water resources. This layer was created by merging the source data layers with priority given to the most recent data. For source dates and inputs see metadata.
